In October 2024, a new xARIS update was completed based on feedback collected from experienced users during several months of system testing.
The update focused on practical improvements identified through real use of the new xARIS platform. Particular attention was given to the RASOD and LICENSEE modules, together with system customization, reporting, database migration, multilingual functionality, and overall usability.
This release marked an important transition in xARIS development: from building the core system and modules to refining the platform based on direct user experience.
RASOD Data Management Improvements
A significant part of the release focused on the RASOD module.
The update improved the presentation and management of radiation source records, including the display of the latest source status directly in the main table and improved ordering of source history information.
The system was also updated to prevent duplicate registration numbers and to improve the accuracy and automatic updating of source categorization information.
Several practical data-management issues identified by users were corrected, including the updating of manufacturer and model lists, handling of general data records, and creation of new models when adding generators and associated equipment.
Excel Data Import for Radiation Source Records
The release introduced functionality for importing sealed source data into RASOD from predefined Excel templates.
The import process was designed to support the transfer of structured source information into xARIS and provide users with information on the status of imported records. The report’s implementation screenshots show the new import interface and per-record import results.
This functionality provided a more efficient method for transferring existing source inventories into the system and reduced the need for manual entry of individual records.
Improved Management of Sources and Associated Equipment
The interaction between radiation sources and associated equipment was also improved.
Users can attach sources directly to associated equipment records from the editing interface, simplifying the management of relationships between equipment and the sources used with it.
Additional corrections and refinements were implemented for source models, security-related fields, categorization information, and multilingual general data records.
LICENSEE Module Enhancements
The LICENSEE module received several improvements to the management and presentation of regulatory information.
Licensee history records were reorganized to improve chronological presentation and access to current information. The module was also expanded with additional properties related to departments, authorizations, authorization expiration dates, and inspection information.
Links between region, district, and city data were introduced to improve the consistency of geographic information used in licensee records.
These changes improved access to relevant regulatory information directly from the licensee data environment.
More Flexible System Customization
The October 2024 update significantly expanded xARIS customization capabilities.
Users gained the ability to define and save preferred record sorting, while newly added module fields could also be included in reports.
The customization functionality was extended to support additional field types, including dropdown selections, dates, and numeric fields. Customization options were also expanded to enforcement-related information.
The system also introduced visual differentiation for selected regulatory conditions, including expired and cancelled licenses, occupational dose exceedance records, and exempted radiation sources.
Reporting Improvements
A number of improvements were introduced to xARIS reporting functionality.
The design of exported reports was enhanced to improve readability, and numeric data exported to Excel was updated to use appropriate numeric field formats.
The release also improved the consistency between information selected by users in the xARIS interface and the content included in generated reports. Several module-specific reporting issues were corrected, including RASOD search and sorting behaviour.
These improvements were intended to make generated reports clearer and more useful for further regulatory analysis and data processing.
Data Migration and Multilingual Improvements
The release also addressed issues identified during database migration and multilingual use of xARIS.
Improvements were made to data processing and migration logic, including the handling and consolidation of selected general data records.
Several translation and national-language issues identified during testing were corrected, supporting the use of xARIS in multilingual regulatory environments. The report specifically records corrections related to Georgian-language general data.
Developed from User Feedback
The October 2024 update was directly shaped by the experience of xARIS users.
Feedback, requested modifications, identified shortcomings, and software issues collected during extended system testing were reviewed and used to define the scope of the improvements.
The implemented changes underwent front-end and back-end development followed by testing and quality-control activities before completion of the update. The report documents four testing reports as part of the release work.
Continuing the Evolution of xARIS
The October 2024 release represented the next stage in the evolution of xARIS.
Rather than introducing new regulatory modules, the update focused on improving how users work with the existing system — making data management more practical, customization more flexible, reporting clearer, and system behaviour more consistent.
The release also established a user-feedback-driven approach that continues to guide further xARIS development.
