xARIS Enhanced Across Key Regulatory Modules

The March 2025 xARIS release introduced extensive improvements across AUTHORIZATION, INSPECTION & ENFORCEMENT, OCCUDOSE, and RADEVENTS, together with enhanced reporting, statistics, customization, and system usability.

.

RELEASED

In March 2025, a major xARIS update was completed, introducing a broad range of improvements across key regulatory modules and common system functionality.

The release continued the user-feedback-driven development of xARIS. Following extended testing by experienced users, selected modifications, usability improvements, and identified software issues were addressed in a second major phase of system refinement.

The update focused particularly on AUTHORIZATION, INSPECTION & ENFORCEMENT, OCCUDOSE, and RADEVENTS, while also improving reporting, statistics, customization, and overall system behaviour.

AUTHORIZATION Workflow Improvements

The AUTHORIZATION module received a broad set of practical improvements designed to support more accurate and connected authorization records.

Import, export, transport, and transfer functionality was refined, including the addition of attachment options and direct association of radiation sources with transfer and transport records.

Authorization status handling was also improved. The system now identifies the current authorization status based on the most recent status date rather than simply displaying the last status entered by a user.

The release also introduced the ability to link related authorizations, allowing users to establish connections between previous and new authorization records and better follow authorization history.

Search, reporting, and source-selection functionality were further improved to support day-to-day regulatory work.

Improved Inspection and Enforcement Oversight

The INSPECTION & ENFORCEMENT functionality was enhanced to provide clearer information on non-compliances, follow-up activities, and enforcement status.

More detailed visual status indicators were introduced for enforcement and follow-up activities, helping users distinguish between approaching deadlines, passed deadlines, completed actions, and resolved cases.

The system was also updated to display unresolved non-compliances and follow-up information more clearly, including dedicated indicators and record counts.

Additional improvements addressed source selection, migrated records, and the handling of inspection and enforcement information.

These changes strengthened the ability of regulatory users to follow identified issues and related regulatory actions.

Expanded OCCUDOSE Functionality

A significant part of the March 2025 release focused on the OCCUDOSE module.

The update introduced improvements to occupational dose data management, including the handling of dose records, personnel information, dose exceedances, and related regulatory information.

The release also refined data entry and presentation to make occupational exposure records easier to manage and review.

These changes further developed OCCUDOSE as a dedicated regulatory tool for maintaining and analysing occupational dose information.

RADEVENTS Improvements

The RADEVENTS module was updated to improve the management and presentation of radiation event information.

Changes were introduced to event-related data fields, record handling, and the interaction of RADEVENTS with other xARIS information.

The improvements addressed issues identified during system testing and practical use, helping users maintain more structured and consistent radiation event records.

Improved Reports and Large Data Processing

Reporting functionality received important technical and usability improvements.

The release corrected formatting issues in generated PDF and DOCX reports and expanded the information available in authorization reports, including import, export, transfer, and transport data.

Performance issues affecting reports with large data sets were also addressed. The report confirms that system freezing related to large reports was corrected.

These improvements made xARIS reports more reliable and better suited for working with larger regulatory databases.

Enhanced Statistics and Data Presentation

The system’s statistical functionality was further improved to provide clearer presentation and analysis of regulatory information.

Updates were introduced to statistical pages and the handling of data used in system statistics.

Together with reporting improvements, these changes strengthened the tools available for reviewing and analysing information maintained across xARIS modules.

More Flexible System Customization

Customization functionality was also expanded as part of the release.

The improvements provided additional options for adapting the presentation and behaviour of xARIS to user and regulatory needs.

This continued the xARIS approach of allowing national regulatory authorities to configure selected system elements while maintaining a common system architecture.

User Experience and System Reliability

In addition to module-specific modifications, the March 2025 release included a range of front-end and back-end improvements.

Search behaviour, data presentation, field handling, record relationships, and other common system functions were refined based on issues identified during testing.

The implemented modifications were supported by front-end development, back-end logic development, and testing and quality-control activities before completion of the release. The Final Report specifically records these as dedicated development and validation activities.

Continuing User-Driven Development

The March 2025 release represented the second major phase of modifications based on consolidated feedback from experienced xARIS users.

While the October 2024 update focused particularly on RASOD and urgent system-wide improvements, this release addressed selected remaining modifications across the other major regulatory modules and common xARIS functionality.

The update further improved the consistency, usability, and reliability of xARIS and continued the evolution of the system based on practical regulatory experience.
