xARIS

First Version of xARIS Released

The first version of xARIS introduced a modernized regulatory information system with redesigned core modules for source registration, licensee management, authorizations, and system administration.

RELEASED

In June 2022, the first version of xARIS — the modernized Advanced Regulatory Information System — was completed and released.

The development of xARIS was initiated to update the original ARIS technology and provide regulatory bodies with a modern, maintainable, and user-oriented information system. The new system was developed using an updated graphical interface and a redesigned database structure based on the xARIS Technical Specification.

This first release established the technological and functional foundation for the further development of xARIS.

Core Modules Introduced

The first xARIS version included four core system components:

RASOD
Management of information on sealed and unsealed radioactive sources, radiation generators, and associated equipment.

LICENSEE
Management of regulatory information on licensees, facilities, departments, and related organizational data.

AUTHORIZATION
Management of authorization records and related regulatory information, with links to licensee and radiation source data.

ADMINISTRATION
Centralized system administration, including user and role management, multilingual configuration, customization, reporting, notifications, database management, statistics, and activity logs.

The source code and application package delivered for this release covered the ADMINISTRATION, LICENSEE, RASOD, and AUTHORIZATION modules.

A New Integrated Regulatory Platform

The first release introduced the basic architecture and working principles that continue to form the foundation of xARIS.

The system provided connections between the LICENSEE, RASOD, and AUTHORIZATION modules, allowing regulatory information to be managed within a common information environment rather than through separate databases. The AUTHORIZATION module, for example, was linked with both licensee and radiation source information.

The new xARIS interface also introduced a structured dashboard and module-based navigation designed to provide a consistent working environment for regulatory users.

System Administration and Customization

The ADMINISTRATION functionality introduced centralized tools for managing the system and adapting it to national regulatory needs.

The first version included functionality for user and role management, languages and translations, system customization, messages and notifications, reports and queries, statistics, database backup and restoration, database migration, and activity logging.

These capabilities established xARIS as a configurable system that could be adapted to different regulatory environments and languages.

Documentation and Testing

The release was accompanied by a comprehensive User Manual and Programmers Manual.

The User Manual provided installation guidance, system setup instructions, administration guidance, and step-by-step information for working with the core xARIS modules. The Programmers Manual documented the principal, technical, functional, coding, and security requirements of the application.

Testing was carried out throughout the development process and against the prepared testing plan before completion of the release.

Building the Foundation for Future xARIS Development

The June 2022 release marked the transition from the original ARIS technology to the new xARIS platform.

With the core regulatory modules and system administration framework in place, the first release created the foundation for the subsequent development of additional regulatory modules and expanded system capabilities.
